Woy Woy, NSW 2256

The suburb of Woy Woy on the Central Coast is a picture-perfect gateway to an array of stunning beaches, waterways and national parks.

The name 'Woy Woy' is said to come from the language of the Darkinjung Aboriginal people, meaning 'much water' or 'big lagoon' - a reference to the beautiful Brisbane Water estuary that forms the suburb's heart.

This gorgeous suburb offers easy access to an array of attractions and nature walks that make living here truly special. Situated in the northern half of the Woy Won Peninsula, it's located within a 1 hour and 15 minute drive of Sydney CBD, and just 90 minutes to Newcastle. Commuters can catch the train direct to the city, or hop on the Central Coast Ferry to connect to other towns on Brisbane Water.

The waterfront at Lions Park is the perfect place for a picnic, and the paved walkway makes it a great choice for a picturesque bike ride. Locals have a range of cafes and dining options on hand, including the revived Fishermen's Wharf which offers a casual seafood takeaway as well as a stylish restaurant with views across the water and out to charming Pelican Island. Capturing a sparkling backdrop over Brisbane Water, The Boathouse at the Koolewong Marina is another elegant waterfront dining option.

Woy Woy is home to two public primary schools, Woy Woy South and Woy Woy, with the senior campus of Brisbane Water Secondary College is also located within the area. The Catholic school, St John the Baptist Primary, is located on Dulkara Road.

Residents of Woy Woy love the proximity to the beautiful scenic beaches that line the nearby coast. Ettalong Beach and Ocean Beach are a 10 minute drive from Woy Woy's town centre, while Pearl Beach is a 15 minute drive. Ettalong Beach is a favourite spot for families with young children, presenting calm waters, play equipment, picnic spots and a paved walkway. The vibrant Ettalong Markets are nearby, making it the ideal weekend family activity.

Situated just 8km from Woy Woy, the expansive grounds of Bouddi National Park deliver amazing panoramas, clifftop walks and peaceful sheltered beaches. Keen cyclists will love the bike path that runs along Brisbane Water all the way to Gosford, providing scenic outlooks along a flat paved pathway.
